At The Quin Center, our mission is simple but powerful: to serve, support, and strengthen our community. We believe in creating a safe space where every person - no matter their story - can find hope, resources, and connection.
My name is Jasmine, and The Quin Center is deeply personal to me.
My father experienced homelessness. I saw firsthand the struggles, the dangers, and the exhaustion that comes with living without a safe place to call home.
In 2024, I lost my dad. His passing was a painful reminder that behind every statistic is a real person — someone’s parent, child, sibling, or friend.
Houston is packed — and for too many, there’s nowhere to go.
Right now, people experiencing homelessness have to be put on waiting lists just to get a roof over their heads. When they finally get into a shelter, they’re often put back out first thing in the morning, with the same problems they came in with.
Shelters are overcrowded, unorganized, and underfunded.
And the people inside — they’re not just “homeless people.” They are people without guidance, without hope, trying to survive in a system that is broken.
Too often, society looks at them and says, “They need to get a job” — without stopping to ask, “Do you know how hard they’re trying?”
It’s not laziness. It’s the reality of falling to rock bottom with no one to catch you, no support to guide you back up, and a system that seems more focused on making money off your situation than helping you out of it.
I started The Quin Center in his honor, with the hope that no one else’s loved one will be forgotten or left without help.
Our mission is simple: Rest. Reset. Rebuild.
We provide essentials, compassion, and real guidance to Houston’s most vulnerable — not just to survive another day, but to rebuild their future.
The Quin Center isn’t just a nonprofit. It’s a promise — to my dad, to our city, and to everyone fighting to make it through one more night.
